Optiscan in cooperation with Capgemini has delivered a voice directed picking solution linked to SAP for Finnfrost Oy frozen food operations in Finland. This is the worldīs first SAP-certified voice solution utilizing the Vocollect VoiceLink system. The implementation of this system is completed and it is currently fully operational.
Finnfrostīs operations are managed by the SAP system tailored for the frozen food business. During spring 2008 the system has been developed further by implementing a warehouse picking system based on voice technology (Vocollect VoiceLink WCS for SAP).
Globally it is the first live VoiceLink for SAP project. Although Finnfrostīs requirements for this system were extremely high, the project itself and its results have met the initial expectations.
Finnfrost specialises in sourcing and logistics of frozen foods. A nationwide delivery system in Finland facilitates product deliveries to customers within 48 hours. Over 150 employees work in Finnfrostīs warehouse functions.
Frozen food and ice cream are delivered to customers in 14 delivery areas from Finnfrost's logistics centre in Jussla, Tuusula, Finland in the temperature controlled transport vehicles. Temperature control throughout the supply chain is the key prerequisite for frozen food trade.
Voice technology is used in warehouse operations to increase efficiency and productivity. It simultaneously improves the accuracy of the picking and speeds up the working process. In addition to financial benefits, voice technology has a positive effect on occupational safety and ergonomics as well as end-customer satisfaction.
Finnfrost Oy is controlled by Inex Partners Oy and Tuko Logistics Oy with a 50%/50% ownership. The companyīs largest customers are the retail and HoReCa operations of the S Group, Tradeka Group, Wihuri Oy, Stockmann Oyj and Heinon Tukku Oy.
