Pick-n-Go puts an end to non-productive mobility

Optiscan launches a new Pick-n-Go™ solution that increases the productivity of the warehouse picking process as much as 75-100%.

Danaher Motionīs Pick-n-Go solution is based on the innovative way of combining voice recognition technology and the use of Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV). The basic idea is to make warehouse picking process more efficient by minimizing the time the picker uses for moving between different locations. The examination of the warehouse cost structure reveals that this is the most effective way to increase the productivity right after the implementation of voice recognition solution.

Staff costs make up over half of the total costs in the warehouse. Picking is the largest single cost factor within staff costs. Manually operating picker uses as much as half of the working time for moving from one place to another. By decreasing the amount of this non-productive mobility it is possible to increase the effectiveness and productivity of the warehouse.

This is possible with more effective working tools. With Pick-n-Go solution the picker receives assignments from the voice picking system to his/her headphones. With the same system he/she manoeuvres an AGV and picks the articles aboard according to instructions.

The picker doesnīt need to use time for getting on and off the vehicle between picking spots. When picking carriage becomes full, one AGV takes it automatically to the dispatch area and another one brings an empty carriage for replacement.

This reduces the time picker uses for driving a forklift by half. The pickerīs tasks become substantially easier when finding the right spot quickens and the phases including lifting and driving vehicles become simpler. This improves also the pickerīs working ergonomics.

Pick-n-Go solution improves significantly the operational efficiency and delivery reliability further, which enhances customer satisfaction. This leads to lower operational costs and customers will centralize their acquisitions and therefore the margins increase. As a result the sales and market share grow - in other words the company is more competitive.
