Honeywell: 11 Strategies for Creating Safer and More Productive Distribution Centers
The emergence of COVID-19 has introduced challenges and unprecedented complexities in distribution center (DC) and retail store operations. Concerns over the spread of the virus triggered a rapid surge in the demand for e-commerce and click-and-collect capabilities. That effectively accelerated e-commerce adoption by three to five years due to both the increase in new online and click-and-collect consumers and higher revenue per order. Not only do fulfillment operations have to increase productivity to meet this demand, they are also tasked with implementing new measures aimed at worker and workplace safety.

Noora Salminen: How to effectively manage a growing mobile environment?
The tools of healthcare professionals traditionally include consumer devices such as smartphones, separate VoIP phones, and in addition to this, separate wireless alarms. For the most part, fixed workstations or laptops are still used to record the various stages of nursing work. Label printers are for the most part still stationary desktop printers, from which the nursing staff prints one number of labels at a time. In this case, errors can occur in the labeling of the samples when there are many labels. The laboratory nurse accompanied by the so-called portable Mobile printers have become more common in mobile sampling points. The printer uses the mobile terminal's sampling application to generate a label for the sample after the patient has been identified by the handheld. This improves patient safety. Today, desktop and mobile printers and terminals can be managed centrally remotely.

Markus Kaikkonen: Improve eCommerce productivity with voice control
The strong growth of e-commerce is increasing productivity pressure in the distribution centers and stores of e-commerce companies. The need for different delivery methods is also increasing. Consumers expect a seamless and flawless e-commerce experience. Flawless collection, packaging and timely delivery of deliveries is therefore one of the biggest challenges in e-commerce. A bad customer experience can be costly for an online store.

Jarmo Reunanen: Effective personnel control of warehouses and stores in the new era
The digitalisation of trade and logistics is focusing on the creation of new business models and services, such as the production of purchasing and service services digitally. This requires that production and service processes be adapted to new business models. This is a big and time-consuming challenge. 78% of the top management of logistics companies do not consider the current digitalisation skills of their company or logistics industry to be sufficient.

Noora Salminen: UDI is coming - Are you ready?
What is UDI? The Unique Device Identifier (UDI) system is designed to enable healthcare devices to be identified and traced globally. The entry into force of the UDI system will force suppliers to label all their products in accordance with UDI requirements. An example of this is markings on care products, instruments and medical devices. The tag must be readable from the device both visually and automatically by means of a barcode or RFID tag. Each level of packaging is identified separately and reusable equipment, such as cutting instruments, must have, in addition to the packaging marking, a permanent marking on the equipment itself. The label is in two parts, including a unique device identifier, eg GTIN, and a unique production identifier, eg batch number, serial number or expiration date.

Noora Salminen: The risk of infections in healthcare can be significantly reduced by choosing healthcare hardware

3 reasons why you should evaluate TCO for your field operations technology every time
Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) isn’t just about statistics. Field service organizations responsible for everything from home repair to utility services and insurance claims or construction equipment rentals are seeing their workers quickly transform into “information workers”. Workers who need real-time, digitally-delivered data about work orders, customer history, inventory availability and other logistical details at their fingertips all day long in order to be effective. And public safety agencies, manufacturers, energy producers and transportation leaders, whose operational tempo can fluctuate from one minute to the next, are finding the new necessity of fully mobilized “information workers” hard to ignore. The level of situational awareness and constant connectivity required between crew members creates an undeniable reliance on real-time data – and, thus, a reliance on high-performance mobile computers – whether coordinating emergency response actions, responding to rising oil demands, or tracking the delivery of millions of dollars of freight.

A prerequisite for this is a new kind of digitalization of supply chains, which can create a winning customer experience and lower the total cost of deliveries.A winning customer experience requires personalized e-commerce, fast and agile deliveries, and continuous delivery tracking. These consumer requirements are reflected at all levels of logistics.
