The Zebra ZD421 is a compact 4-inch desktop label printer for shipping, product, shelf and warehouse labels. It prints up to 108 mm wide at up to 152 mm/s and comes in three versions: thermal transfer (ZD421t), direct thermal (ZD421d) and an easy-change ribbon cartridge (ZD421c).

What is the difference between the ZD421t, ZD421d and ZD421c?

The ZD421t prints with thermal transfer from a ribbon roll for long-lasting labels. The ZD421d prints direct thermal without ribbon, ideal for shipping labels. The ZD421c uses a ribbon cartridge that is especially easy to change.

Can the ZD421 be used wirelessly or without a power cord?

Yes. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are available as options, as well as a battery base.

Is the ZD421 suitable for cold storage?

Its operating temperature is 4.4–41 °C, so it is meant for indoor use. For cold areas we recommend an industrial printer or placing the printer in a heated space.

Can the ZD421 print RFID labels?

No. For RFID labels we recommend the Zebra ZD621R or the Zebra ZT411 with an RFID encoder.

Will the ZD421 work with our system?

Most likely. The ZD421 uses Zebra’s ZPL language, which almost all warehouse, ERP and e-commerce systems support.
